"Bogurodzica" w utworach instrumentalnych Józefa Świdra i Ryszarda Gabrysia

The article, apart form its historical part concerning, among other things, hypotheses about the authorship and place of creation of the song, presents the works of the Silesian composers, both the compositions making use of the melodic pattern of Bogurodzica and those including only its motives. The main part of the text was devoted to the analysis of the instrumental works using some of the fragments of the song, i.e. 3rd part of Ewokacji na fortepian i orkiestrą smyczkową by J. Świder and Preambulum na organy by R. Gabryś. The analysis conducted has shown the differences in composers’ attitudes to the thematic material of Bogurodzica. The differences concern, above all, melody and harmony, factural representation of the cited fragments of the song, as well as ways of showing these fragments in the musical narrative of the works
